Chandrayaan-3 releases new images of Moon's surface as countdown begins for landing

The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) released new images of the far side of the Moon captured by Chandrayaan-3. The countdown has begun for the landing of the Vikram lander on the surface of the Moon after it officially established contact with the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter.

Isro said that the landing process will begin on August 23 at 6:08 pm IST as the spacecraft commences its descent from an altitude of 25 kilometers above the lunar surface. 

In other news, the Delhi Police arrested a senior official of the Women and Child Development department on charges of raping his friend's 14-year-old daughter (now 17-years-old) over months and impregnating her. The official's wife, who is accused of giving the survivor abortion pills, was also arrested.

2 burnt alive as petrol tanker collides with Rolls-Royce in Haryana’s Nuh

Amid Naga Panchami celebrations in Telangana’s Kamareddy, ten snakes appeared at once in a house, causing panic in the area. The incident took place in the Vinayakanagar Colony of Tekriyal village under Kamareddy district. According to sources, the snakes appeared where children generally play. They said the residents believed that Lord Shiva appeared in the form of snakes as they performed a special puja at the house. Locals, however, chased the snakes away without causing them any harm.
