Yes, this is another post about AI.

But, we’re not going to go into the whole debate on whether or not the Wyzowl report, 91% of businesses use video as a marketing tool— maintaining an all-time high since 2016.

This screenshot shows the results of a recent Wyzowl report proving that the use of video is increasing over time

This video statistic, coupled with the fact that the global AI video generator market size was estimated at $554.9 million in 2023 and is expected to reach $1.96 billion by 2030, is evidence that video will be a huge part of brand marketing campaigns this year and in the years to come.

Whether that’s YouTube videos, explainer videos on your website or landing pages, TikTok videos, Instagram Reel videos, or other social media videos—brands, especially B2B brands, will be creating a lot more video content.

The problem is just that creating videos is not the easiest or fastest thing to do.

Video voiceovers take a lot of work. You have to draft the script, rehearse, do the final take, and edit out the awkward clunky parts.

And when you don’t have the time to do all that? You can use an AI voice generator to do the heavy lifting for you and reap the rewards of using videos in your marketing funnel.

AI text-to-speech platforms help you create natural voiceovers for your explainer videos and product feature updates by just plugging in text on your computer.

I spent a few hours testing out a few voice generator platforms and have curated a list of the best tools for you to use for your video content.

What to look for in an AI voice generator—the winning criteria

So, there are a lot of AI voice generator tools to choose from, like a lot.

This image shows a vast selection of AI voice generator tools available on the market

Some have pretty basic features, while others have hundreds of voice and accent options, voice stability, and similarity settings that you can toggle until you get the perfect output.

After using a bunch of tools, here’s my list of must-haves I believe all good AI text-to-speech tools should have.

High-quality, realistic voice options: Use a tool that uses high-quality, realistic voices that can accurately convey your message. Some tools use robotic-sounding voices that can be difficult to listen to and may detract from the overall quality of your project

A wide range of customization options: Find a tool that is easy to use and offers a range of customization options. Also, look for a tool with multilingual support. The tool should convey different emotions (e.g., happy, sad, excited) in their speech

Compatibility with other tools: Ensure that the AI voice generator is compatible with your existing tools and platforms, such as content creation software, marketing automation platforms, or voice assistant devices

The complete list of the best AI voice generators

To ensure this was a fair review, I used the free versions of the tools, opted for the default voice, and gave them all this text input:

“This is a fight for the best AI voice generator tool—let’s see who takes home the crown. Is it going to be “you”?”

ElevenLabs

Top features:

  • Extensive voice library
  • Voice cloning
  • Long-form content capabilities
  • User-friendly interface
  • Customization options
  • Pricing:

  • Includes a free plan but doesn’t need a credit card
  • Starter plans start at $5/month
  • Eleven Labs claims to create natural AI voices instantly in any language—perfect for video creators, developers, and businesses. The tool supports 29 languages and all diverse accents.

The dashboard is easy to use. You can select the appropriate accent and enter text in your language of choice. The VoiceLab then allows you to create voices and use them in any language.

This is a screenshot showing the ElevenLabs AI generator tool interface

You can toggle between “simple” and “advanced” modes. The advanced mode comes with style exaggeration, stability, and similarity settings.

The voice generator produced pretty realistic results, it was impressive. The hundreds of voices and accents to choose from were what set apart Eleven Labs.

    Speechify

    Top features:

  • Customizable playback speed
  • Seamless cross-device sync
  • Accessibility features
  • Productivity-enhancing capabilities
  • Chrome extension
  • Pricing:

  • Includes free plan but needs credit card information
  • Paid plan starts at $11.58/month
  • Speechify differentiates itself from its competitors by focusing on the “reading out” part of the text-to-speech platform. The platform also features voices of famous personalities such as Snoop Dogg and Gwyneth Paltrow—it’s fun to have these celebrities read your books out loud to you.

This is a screenshot showing Speechify AI generator tool interface

Another unique feature of the platform is that anything you’ve saved to your Speechify library instantly syncs across devices, so you can listen to anything, anywhere, anytime.

Because of the credit card requirement, I just tried the sample text for Speechify. The result was okay-ish, but it did sound a bit mechanical—not as natural as ElevenLabs.

    WellSaid

    Top features:

  • Customizable voice avatars
  • Real-time streaming and audio processing
  • Integrations and API
  • Diverse use cases
  • Voice actor program
  • Pricing:

  • 1-week free trial
  • Paid plans $44/month
  • WellSaid’s homepage claims the tool uses advanced deep-learning techniques to create lifelike, human-like voices across a range of styles, accents, and languages. And provides a more engaging and immersive listening experience compared to traditional text-to-speech.

WellSaid allows users to create and customize their own exclusive voice avatars, enabling them to build branded, personalized voices for their products and experiences.

This is a screenshot showing WellSaid AI generator tool interface

While WellSaid does not currently offer a public API, it does provide integrations that allow users to easily incorporate text-to-speech functionality into their applications and digital experiences.

WellSaid empowers voice actors to create and monetize their own custom AI voices, providing them with a comprehensive toolkit to hone their craft and bring their voiceover projects to life.

I chose Tobin A. for my sample text since that seems to be the default option, the result was okay-ish, but it was a little too fast—ElevenLabs’ result sounded better.

This is a screenshot showing WellSaid AI generator tool interface

One thing to note is that WellSaid doesn’t let you download the file unless you upgrade to a paid plan.

    Listnr

    Top features:

  • Text-to-speech editor
  • Emotion fine-tuning
  • Podcast hosting and distribution
  • Text-to-video conversion
  • Downloadable audio formats
  • Pricing:

  • 1-week free trial
  • Paid plans $5/month
  • Listnr’s generative AI Engine lets you create voiceovers with 1000+ different voices in over 142 languages, including a clone of your own voice. You can customize the output by adjusting pitch, pauses, pronunciation, and playback speed.

I used the default voice again, and the output was fine, but it could be better and more natural sounding.

This is a screenshot showing Listnt's interface

The platform also lets you add emotional inflections like excitement, sadness, or whispering to the generated voices to better match the tone of the content. Another feature that helps make Listnr stand out is that it can convert text into fully animated videos, making it a versatile solution for content creators and marketers.

You can also integrate its voice generation capabilities into its own applications and platforms and export the generated voiceovers in standard audio formats like MP3 and WAV, enabling easy integration into various projects and workflows.

Find the AI voice generator that meets all your needs

AI voice generators give you the unique opportunity to add speed and scalability to your video production process. Though the platforms give you access to lots of other features, the most important one to have is a realistic voice that can sound the most human-like.

Out of the tools I tried for this post, ElevenLabs had the most diverse voice library, the most realistic voices, and cool settings to adjust how the voice-over should sound—plus, you can easily download your sound files. Listnr was a close second.

Videos should be an integral part of your content marketing strategy. To ensure that your videos give you the conversion results you need, remember to add a landing page CTA at the end of your videos or in your descriptions.

The past year has been transformative for AI in almost all aspects of marketing and tech—from data analysis to image creation and content generation. AI marketing has become an integral part of the daily workflows of advertising and marketing teams.

    Search was the next step.

Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) is the platform’s upgraded search landscape. Unlike traditional SERP results, SGE uses generative AI in search
to give users quick and clear overviews of their search queries—so they don’t have to click on individual website links.

SGE is Google’s way of optimizing the search results for a perfect user experience, however, as of now, SGE is an experiment (it only operates in 120 countries and in seven languages), it doesn’t work for all search queries, and you need to opt in to see it.

    How does Google SGE work?

Google’s generative AI search uses a variety of AI powered technologies for information retrieval, such as natural language processing and large language models, machine learning, and deep learning, to understand a user’s search query, process relevant content, and formulate an appropriate response.

Users can also ask follow-up questions with SGE based on the answers that are generated and get product recommendations.

This image shows how Google Search Generative Experience (SGE) works. It depicts various AI-powered technologies such as natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning used for information retrieval and generating responses to user queries.

Using the Search Generative Experience helps users get:

    • Quick and already formulated answers to questions
    • Access to overviews they don’t need to sift through
    • Summarized key takeaways
    • Clear instructions on how to perform tasks

While SGE completely customizes and streamlines users’ search experience, it also changes the way SERP results are shown, making advertisers and marketers wary of how to run ads and rank their content on the search engine.

Will Google Generative AI for search results change the SERP landscape?

There’s a lot of speculation about how AI powered search will change everything for content marketers, SEO professionals, and searchers everywhere. The new generative AI experience is expected to lead to a more conversational and potentially voice-search-dominant experience.

Another big change with SGE is that the tech automatically creates a position 0 for search results page with its quick summary option:

This image shows a screenshot of a search results page with a highlighted quick summary option generated by Google Search Generative Experience (SGE) technology.

While users can see links appearing on the left side, it’s highly unlikely they will click one of these links if they get everything they’re looking for from the summary.

Plus, the follow-up question options serve the purpose of improving search results by allowing users to satisfy further queries in a more casual, non-search way without going down the SERP rabbit hole.

What does this mean for advertisers and marketers? Yes, SGE could potentially lead to a decrease in organic search traffic. However, it also means if your content is personalized, relevant, and user-centric, you will still win visibility in the new design.

You can also use the AI-generated responses as a roadmap to create more fine tuned and targeted ad campaigns that align with user intent and drive higher engagement rates.

With the new search landscape, Keyword research will evolve into a dynamic, feed-based approach, moving away from heavily relying on specific keywords. One of the best ways to create the type of high-quality content Google prioritizes is to use reputable sources, share expert opinions, and ensure any information you feature is accurate.

You must also understand and address search intent before narrowing down keywords and writing content. There are four main types of search intent you need to consider:

    • Navigational intent: Users looking for a specific page
    • Informational intent: Users who want to learn about something
    • Commercial intent: Users who are conducting research before making a purchase decision
    • Transactional intent: Users who want to complete a specific action, typically a purchase

How will Google search generative experience impact PPC?

Google search ads in the SGE landscape look different. They are more visual and more descriptive.

This image shows a comparison between traditional Google search ads and the new visually enhanced and descriptive search ads within the SGE landscape.

And it’s not just the ads that have gotten a facelift. The new generative search experience will result in switching to conversational mode and lead to the creation of interactive ad copy, which will require marketers to adapt their messaging to better fit the new search experience. PPC ads will also see the following changes:

    1. Visual focus: SGE places a higher visual focus on ads, with more image extensions. This requires advertisers to ensure their ad creative is visually engaging and optimized for the generative environment.
    2. Keyword intent: Ads for more transactional-based searches will be highlighted. This means that ads will be more likely to appear for searches with clear commercial intent, potentially leading to higher engagement and conversion rates.
    3. Ad placements: Generative AI in search will change the placement of ads, with only two ad positions appearing above organic or AI sections instead of the traditional four. This will lead to more competitive auctions for ad placements.
    4. Ad format testing: Google is testing new ad formats within the SGE, such as the “You May Also Like” feature, which presents a carousel of products alongside AI-generated responses. This testing is ongoing, and the impact on ad performance and costs is still being evaluated.
    5. Increased ad space: Ads will take up more space within the SGE, potentially leading to higher click-through rates and increased competition for ad placements. This will require advertisers to adapt their strategies to ensure their ads stand out in the SGE environment.

Difference between Google SGE and other tools

    Google SGE vs. Perplexity AI

Perplexity AI is a generative search engine that uses advanced AI and natural language processing (NLP) technologies to give users an ad-free search experience.

Perplexity AI gives users comprehensive responses, synthesizes information from diverse sources, and offers an in-depth understanding of complex subjects and follow-up options.

This image shows the interface of Perplexity AI, a generative search engine, providing comprehensive responses and synthesizing information from diverse sources using advanced AI and natural language processing (NLP) technologies.

While SGE does generate answers to search queries in a similar fashion, it also includes ads and is still in the experimentation phase, so it’s not accessible to everyone.

    Google SGE vs. Bing

Bing was the first in the race to create a generative search experience, but Google SGE is still winning in several aspects.

Bing adds a dense answer box with numbered source links, while Google’s SGE takes up the whole page and doesn’t include any links inside the text. Here’s an example comparing the two:

This image shows a comparison between Google SGE and Bing generative search experiences, highlighting differences in presentation and content structure.

Bing’s approach to displaying its AI answer along the right-hand side of the page allows users to get to the actual search results faster than with SGE.

If you scroll up or expand the AI-powered answer, you can ask Google follow-up questions while Bing presents users with Chat mode.

What are the Google SGE challenges?

    Geographic and language limitations

Google SGE is available in seven languages and over 120 countries. But it is yet to launch in Europe. Google plans to gradually expand its generative AI search experience to more countries in a way that is consistent with local regulations and their AI principles.

    Potential for inaccuracy

As SGE is still in the early stages of development, like other language models, it can sometimes produce incorrect information. Google SGE also displays a disclaimer, “Generative AI is experimental. Info quality may vary,” for precisely this purpose.

    Lack of transparency

Google’s PaLM 2 is a closed model, which doesn’t reveal much about its decision-making process—the lack of transparency clashes with users’ desire to understand how AI arrives at a particular conclusion.

Can Google Search Generative AI create images within the search engine?

Google’s Search Generative Experience allows users to generate images directly from the search bar based on a text prompt. The images produced with SGE based on search terms have metadata labeling and embedded watermarking to indicate that they are AI-generated.

This image shows a demonstration of Google Search Generative Experience, allowing users to generate images directly from the search bar based on text prompts. The images are labeled with metadata and embedded watermarking to indicate that they are AI-generated.

This new capability has the potential to significantly impact the way images are created and used in various applications. The image creation feature is part of Google’s efforts to bring state-of-the-art image-generative AI capabilities to application developers.

SGE takes personalization one step further

Google SGE’s AI powered answers are changing things for SEOs, advertisers, and marketers everywhere. To stay on top of things, it is essential to put personalization and user-centricity at the heart of all your campaigns.

This is especially true for ads and landing pages.

2023 was a landmark year for AI. It started with a red-hot surge in AI advancements leading to subsequent adoption across various sectors, including marketing, media, tech, finance, and healthcare.

We saw AI assisting in diagnosing diseases and developing personalized treatment plans. If that wasn’t eye-opening enough, we also witnessed OpenAI’s GPT-4 score of 297 on the bar exam, exceeding the passing score in every US state. On the AI marketing front, the three most significant AI innovations included generative AI, multimodality, and creating video scenes based on descriptive text. You know, something like this:

Picture shows generating an Al image in Midjourney, and turning it into a video using Runway`s Motion Brush.

With AI taking the marketing reins, all tasks, ranging from automated workflows to creating outlines and drafts, seemed not only possible but also streamlined and simple. AI content generators started popping out from every corner, which made brands and agencies rejoice but also had content writers, copywriters, and social media marketers worried about losing their jobs. As the year progressed and brands, marketers, and agencies began to truly understand AI capabilities, the sentiment around AI became mixed, with excitement and skepticism.

While some marketers became concerned about the potential negative impacts of generative AI, voicing their apprehension about the quality and ethical implications of content produced by AI, as well as its potential to pollute data sets, others were enthusiastic about everything that the technology had yet to offer.

To get a pulse on everything going on with AI marketing in 2023, we surveyed 200+ marketing and advertising professionals from various industries, including real estate, DTC, Healthcare, and Fintech, and asked them their take on the state of AI marketing in 2023, what challenges they faced this year and how AI helped them overcome them.

Key Findings from the State of AI in Marketing 2023 Survey

    1. The adoption of AI tools was at an all-time high

AI marketing has proven itself to be much more than a trending fad. From the marketing professionals we surveyed, an overwhelming number currently use AI tools and also reported that artificial intelligence is used by all departments across their companies.

95.8% of marketers use AI in their jobs every day, and the tech is used by all major company departments.

    3. AI-produced content isn’t perfect. It needs edits and final revisions

While it may seem that content writers and copywriters may soon be out of jobs because generative AI will make them redundant, we found the opposite to be true. While generative AI tools make it easy to produce content, that content still needs a professional touch to be finalized.

52.8% of marketing professionals reported minor edits to AI content, while 34.3% said AI content needs significant edits.

    6. The challenges and benefits of AI marketing

Out of increased ROI, real-time personalization, faster decision-making, enhanced measurement and analysis, and ease of scaling campaigns, most AI marketing professionals believe that improved measurement and analysis is the most significant benefit of adding AI tech into their current marketing stack.

The biggest challenge of leveraging AI for marketing was the extensive training required to use AI tools.

Visual representation highlighting the major hurdles in leveraging AI for marketing strategies.

30.6% of marketers reported that personalized, automated omnichannel campaigns were the most beneficial area for AI marketing, while content generation came in as a close second.

    • 55.6% of marketers believe AI will help generate more jobs in the next three years

Every year, we see the same old story unfold—email marketing is dead, B2B cold calling no longer works, and content marketing is ineffective. The chants of “AI content tools replacing human writers” are finally fading out—bringing to light that while AI marketing tools can’t take over for real marketers and writers, they can help them be more efficient with content creation.

Instapage’s State of AI Marketing Report found that while generative AI tools make it easy to produce content, that content still needs a professional touch to be finalized.

There are countless AI content generators currently on the market promising to take tedious writing off your plate and make your job more efficient—not all tools have what it takes to become your partner in the strategic content marketing game. This is why we have curated and tested the top 17 AI content generators that help you save time and energy.

But first, let’s define what AI content generators are, how they work, and who uses them.

    What are AI content generators?

AI content generators are platforms that use artificial intelligence algorithms to produce written content based on written prompts. The tools leverage natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning techniques to generate content that sounds like it was written by a human for other humans.

AI content generators can create a wide range of content, including articles, blog posts, social media content, marketing copy, product descriptions, and more. They are designed to assist content creators, marketers, and businesses in streamlining their content production process, saving time and effort while ensuring the creation of high-quality, engaging, and relevant content.

What do marketers use AI content generator tools for?

    Social Media Marketers

AI content creation tools generate a myriad of short-form copy in seconds. Social media marketers can create multiple headlines, take out quotes for graphics, and craft copy for social media posts. AI content generators can also analyze user data and preferences to create personalized content tailored to specific audience segments.

    Content writers and copywriters

While there’s a lot of debate about AI-driven content creation tools replacing human content creators, this can’t be farther from the truth. What the tools do is empower content writers and copywriters to save time on ideating and drafting content, analyzing data, and noticing trends in content that are driving the most results.

Content creators can leverage the time they save with AI tools to focus on other, more strategic aspects of their job to optimize the overall efficiency of their content production process.

Now that we’ve covered how AI content generators work and who uses them, let’s move to the list of AI platforms worth trying .

    1. Jasper (Plans starting from $39/month)

Unlike other generic AI content generators, Jasper uses a marketer-centric algorithm to create high-performing content and scale up on-brand content. The platform incorporates features like campaign workflows tailored for emails, advertisements, and social media posts.

Jasper helps content writers craft content that’s in the correct tone of voice after feeding the AI your content or style guide. With Jasper, marketers can upload information about their business, audience, and content, and the AI analyzes that writing style to mimic your tone of voice.

Not only does the tool write on-brand content, but it also helps keep everyone on your team writing similar content because the platform understands just how important it is to keep a consistent message across all channels. You can save hours doing everyday copywriting tasks across your organization to streamline operations, giving your business a high ROAS.

    2. ChatGPT (Free, paid version is also available)

ChatGPT hardly needs an introduction—whenever anyone talks about AI content, it’sthe first tool that comes to mind. ChatGPT essentially functions as a natural language processing (NLP) chatbot that excels at comprehending and generating human-like conversations and content, including Facebook posts, LinkedIn articles, blog posts, and more.

While ChatGPT has proved helpful at creating content, it is still a machine and so is prone to mistakes and, as such, cannot replace the nuances that come naturally to a human mind with original thought.

    3. Content Bot (Plans start at $19/month)

Content Bot allows marketers and content writers to create customworkflows, run through imports, or use the drag-and-drop AI Writer to write copy.

You can try out the platform’s content generators for blog intros, conclusions, blog outlines, expanding on bullet points, and lots more. The platform is made for content writers, copywriters, and SEO specialists to help them create copy that engages audiences and content that informs and has all the right ingredients to help rank in search engines.

What makes Content Bot special is its AI Content Flow Builder, which marketers can use to add flows and triggers to their content marketing strategy.

    4. Simplified (Free, paid plans start at $12/month)

Simplified helps you write long-form content faster using the platform’s Long Form Writer feature. You can create blogs, articles, and even books and use the platform to improve your copy, expand sentences, or even generate entire paragraphs after entering the right prompts.

Social media marketers can also use Simplified to generate Instagram captions, LinkedIn posts, Reels, and other video formats with the tool’s AI designer and AI video creator.

    5. Outranking.io (Plans start at $29/month)

Navigating the system can be confusing because you must balance your monthly word count and feature usage.

Some key features that make Long Shot stand out are:

    • You can automatically detect and flag the parts of your content that include questionable facts
    • The tool suggests facts from authoritative websites with similar topics to help speed up your research process

ShortlyAI doesn’t have a lot of fancy features, so it is much easier to use. However, it only generates articles and offers no additional research or marketing features. It is also pricier and doesn’t include a free trial.

Some key features that make ShortlyAI stand out are:

    • The platform’s simple UI consists of only an editor screen and a sidebar with three settings, so it is extremely easy to use

However, because of the limited features and content variations, the platform is only suitable for content writers.

The impact of AI on organic search is no longer a fantasy. AI marketing isn’t limited to helping marketers do quick research, write content faster, segment their ads, or write social media captions—its influence has now reached organic search.

AI technologies now have the potential to deliver more engaging, contextualized and immersive search experiences. Advertising giants Google and Microsoft with the creation of Bard and “the new Bing”, respectively are speeding up this process by continuing to invest in new search tools powered by AI.

Microsoft made an investment commitment of $10 billion to OpenAI, continuing their partnership on GPT—the large language model (LLM) which runs ChatGPT and the AI features of Bing. And Google didn’t stay behind, they invested more than $400 million in Anthropic (the ChatGPT rival), and according to news predictions the platform will invest about $300 billion in AI by 2028—including Bard.

The impact of AI driven search on organic traffic

When Google’s Knowledge Graph came out back in 2012, there was great uproar and panic over how it is going to make it hard for marketers to get traffic through SEO. And while Google’s Knowledge Graph and Alexa (2016) did decrease clicks to website: Roughly 25.6% of desktop searches and 17.3% of mobile searches got no clicks.

And while this may seem alarming, zero-click searches have always existed and they’ll always continue to exist.

But here’s the fact: Google dominates the search engine market. In fact, as of August 2023, Google held 91.9% of the market share (OBERL,August 2023).

And although Google takes a lion share of the search market, Bing is trying to make its way into search big leagues with a robust implementation of AI in search. Microsoft claims its goal is actually to drive more traffic to publishers and assist in increasing revenue.

First, we want to drive more traffic to publishers in this new world of search. It is a top goal for us, and we measure success in part by how much traffic we are sending from the new Bing/Edge.

Second, we want to increase revenue to publishers. We seek to do this by both driving more traffic to them through new features like chat and answers and by also pioneering the future of advertising in these new mediums…
Lastly, we want to go about this in collaborative fashion working with the industry to continue to foster a healthy ecosystem.

So, let’s get one thing straight: organic search isn’t going anywhere, but the current strategies to get yourself noticed in organic search results is slowly going to disappear. Unbranded search (optimizing for keywords for generic terms) is going to suffer the most. Because why would users need a page filled with links when they can simply get their query answered by ChatGPT, Bing, or Bard?

So, what are marketers supposed to do when unbranded search is dead? Featured below are some of the things you can do to stay relevant in the world of AI organic search and continue to drive organic web traffic.

And yes, as expected it comes down to relevant content and impactful storytelling.

    Create good quality, engaging content

It’s important more than ever to create original and true to your brand content that not every Tom, Dick, and Harry can duplicate. This way you’ll have no problem being at the top of the search results.

Make sure your content is well-researched, authoritative, and can successfully engage humans, even if you use AI content generator tools to write it.

According to Instapage’s State of AI Marketing Report, 61.8% of marketing professionals use AI tools to write social media posts, while 49.3% use it for content ideation, closely followed by tasks such as sales flow triggers and content generation.

Visual depiction of how teams employ AI technologies in their workflows and operations.

    Cultivate a community your brand

Connect with your audience and build a community for your brand, this will help you make lasting connections. Start off with social media communities, respond to queries, strike up conversations, make your community the place your audience feels most comfortable in.

Optimize your content the right way

Make sure your content is relevant to user intent (answer FAQs and pain points) and is well-organized with clear headings and a logical structure.

Another thing that you need to do is: focus on entity-based optimization and figure out ways to integrate it into your content naturally.

Don’t know what an entity is? Here you go: Google defines an entity as “a thing or concept that is singular, unique, well-defined and distinguishable.” An entity can be colors, dates, and ideas—not just physical objects. Use schema markups to provide search engines with structured data about entities and optimize entity-related metadata to get more organic visibility.

Embrace yourself for the Impact of AI on organic search

The strong impact of AI on organic search comes with a set of challenges and opportunities for marketers. If you want to stay relevant in the age of AI organic search you need to strike the perfect balance between human storytelling capabilities and AI technologies.

This is what Instapage helps you do. With Instapage’s AI Content Generator, you get to experience the future and benefits of landing page personalization. The platform makes it easier than ever to build, test, and optimize your pages with the power of artificial intelligence.

AI marketing is all the rage right now. Everywhere you turn, you’ll find a new post, an article, a course—promising better conversions, better return on ad spend, and better growth with using artificial intelligence in your marketing campaigns.

All marketers and advertisers need to do is enter prompts, and AI marketing platforms promise to give you deliverables that cost less, take less time to complete, and require very little human intervention—and yet be as good as a real human’s work.

Some marketers are already using using AI platforms to create more customized marketing campaigns. Some are still skeptical as to whether AI can deliver results as good as a human with the right experience and expertise can. Regardless of which camp you currently belong to, one thing is clear: AI marketing is here, and it’s only going to get better.

Today’s post will dive into what AI marketing is, the pros and cons of using the approach in your marketing campaigns, types of AI marketing tools, things to consider, and a showcase of brands that have achieved success with the strategy.

    Let’s begin.

    What is AI marketing?

AI marketing does for marketers what Google Maps did for commuters and travelers everywhere—it leverages algorithms, data, automation, and machine learning to optimize marketing processes, improve customer experiences, and scale growth.

According to Instapage’s State of AI Marketing Report, 95.8% of marketers use AI in their jobs every day, and the tech is used by all major company departments.

Image showing how departments are using AI marketing

AI-driven marketing presents a time-saving opportunity for marketers and advertisers, freeing you from hours of manual data analysis and the creation of repetitive marketing campaigns. For consumers, AI marketing signifies an increase in encountering content aligned with their preferences and desires—which in turn results in more engagement and conversions for marketers.

Let’s look at all the advantages that AI marketing has to offer.

    Benefits of AI marketing

The adoption of AI in marketing comes with a multitude of advantages:

    • Enhanced efficiency: Mundane and time-consuming tasks can be automated, allowing marketers to focus on high-level strategies and creativity. For example, AI can help marketers with content research, keyword analysis, audience segmentation, and more.
    • Data-driven insights: AI algorithms can segment audiences based on various criteria, such as demographics, behavior, and preferences, allowing marketers to target specific customer segments more effectively. Moreover, AI processes comprehensive datasets quickly, offering insights that humans might overlook, this type of data-driven approach leads to better decision-making.
    • Improved personalization: AI analyzes customer behavior to provide highly personalized experiences, leading to better engagement and higher conversion rates.
    • Cost savings: Automation of tasks and processes reduces operational costs and maximizes resource allocation.
    • Real-time engagement: AI-powered chatbots enable instant customer interaction, increasing user satisfaction and resolving issues promptly.

With all the advantages that AI marketing has to offer, it’s a no-brainer for marketers to use it to generate more conversions and growth for their businesses. The question then arises: how and where do you start implementing AI into your marketing strategy and processes?

How to incorporate AI Marketing in your campaigns

Including AI in your marketing strategy can be a transformative process that enhances efficiency, personalization, and overall campaign effectiveness. Here’s how you start:

Set clear objectives: Begin by defining your marketing objectives and goals. What specific outcomes are you aiming to achieve with the integration of AI? Do you want to improve customer engagement, conversion rates, or optimize ad spend? Getting clear on your goals is a crucial first step.

Understand your data needs: Identify the data you have and the data you require to accomplish marketing tasks and bring in results. AI relies heavily on data, so ensure you have access to relevant and high-quality datasets. It is also important you understand and implement the data privacy and compliance requirements in your industry.

Select the right AI tools and platforms: Not every tool will be a perfect match for your business. Research and choose AI tools and platforms that align with your marketing objectives. Consider factors like ease of integration, scalability, and the specific features you need. More on that below!

Data Analysis and Insights: AI can process and analyze massive amounts of data quickly and efficiently. This allows marketers to gain deeper insights into consumer behavior, preferences, and trends. These insights help in making informed decisions and crafting more personalized and effective marketing strategies.

Data collection and integration: Integrate AI tools with your data sources, such as CRM systems, websites, social media platforms, and customer databases. Ensure that data flows smoothly between these sources and your AI tools.

Implement predictive analytics: Use predictive analytics to help with forecasting market trends, customer behavior, and campaign outcomes.

Generate content: Some AI platforms can help you do research for and create blog posts, product descriptions, and social media updates. While the tools can’t replace human “point-of-view,” expertise, and creativity, they can significantly speed up content production.

Make use of chatbots and virtual assistants: Integrating AI-powered chatbots into your website or messaging platforms helps you stay on top of customer interactions. The chatbots provide real-time customer support, answer common inquiries, and guide users through the sales funnel.

Optimize email marketing: Implement AI to optimize email marketing campaigns and move beyond the ease of just using email templates. Use AI to personalize subject lines, content, and send times based on user behavior and preferences.

Automate ad campaigns: Use AI to automate and optimize your advertising campaigns on platforms like Facebook and Google. Automate the processes of adjusting bidding strategies, targeting specific audience segments, and monitoring ad performance in real time. You can also leverage AI-powered analytics tools to gain real-time insights into campaign performance. Adjust strategies and tactics on the fly based on these insights.

Content recommendation engines: Implement AI-driven recommendation engines to suggest related products, articles, or videos to users, increasing engagement and cross-selling opportunities.

A/B testing and optimization: With AI, you can automate A/B testing by continuously experimenting with variations of marketing elements to identify the most effective strategies.

Dynamic pricing: Employ AI to optimize pricing strategies by analyzing market conditions, competitor pricing, and demand patterns. You can then adjust prices dynamically for maximum profitability.

Conduct customer sentiment analysis: Use AI to analyze customer feedback, reviews, and social media mentions. This will help you better understand customer sentiment to make improvements and refine your marketing strategies.

Measure and analyze campaign results: With AI, you can easily analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of AI-driven strategies and make adjustments as needed.

Compliance and ethical considerations: Ensure your AI marketing strategies comply with data protection and privacy regulations. The ethical use of AI is essential to establishing and maintaining trust with customers.

Implementing AI marketing in your campaigns is an ongoing learning and optimization process. To achieve success with the AI approach, it’s essential to adapt your strategies based on data-driven insights and evolving consumer behaviors. Featured in the next section are examples of brands that have gotten positive results with AI marketing.

    Examples of AI marketing success

Nutella uses AI to design packaging that stands out

Nutella, the OG hazelnut and cocoa spread, wanted to stand out with their packaging. They used the power of AI and a dozen patterns to create 7 million one-of-a-kind labels as unique and expressive as Italian people are. And that’s how Nutella Unica was born.

The 7 million jars manufactured for this campaign were sold out as soon as they hit the market.

Cyber Inc. had a marketing goal: quickly scale with content creation and expand its global reach by creating videos in multiple languages. This led them to use Synthesia AI, an AI video creation platform, to generate videos for their online courses.

The AI tool helped them replace an actor with an avatar, which led to a decrease in the costs of video production and talent.
As expected, Cyber Inc. was able to create videos 2x faster and scale into new markets much earlier than planned in their roadmap by generating content in multiple languages, which would otherwise have been a time-consuming and costly process.

    Volkswagen

In addition to Volkswagen automating its vehicles, the car company decided to automate its ad-buying decisions. Volkswagen marketers decided to rely completely on predictive AI data analysis to help them invest less in campaigns and upsurge their sales.

The results: With better forecasting of buying decisions, Volkswagen was able to cut the hidden costs that their previous media agency was charging and increased their sales by 20% from Volkswagen dealerships.

    Whole Foods

The grocery giant Whole Foods opened its Just Walk Out stores across the US to give consumers a more personalized experience. Filled with sensors and cameras, the stores allow shoppers to pick up their items and leave without stopping at the register. All orders were monitored and charged through AI.

And although the store experience is a unique one, the most exciting part of the store revolves around data collection. Because all purchases are tracked to an individual level, this allowed Whole Foods to leverage AI to analyze shopping activity, identify patterns, and predict future consumer shopping behaviors.

This data-driven approach also opened the door to hyper-personalized marketing. For example, if a customer regularly buys flour, eggs, butter, and sugar, the retailer could serve them with a promo code for other related ingredients.

    Heinz

AI-generated images can look wonky, but that was not the case with Heinz’s first-ever ad campaign with visuals generated entirely by artificial intelligence.

They noticed that by adding prompts related to ketchup, such as “ketchup in outer space” and “ketchup scuba diving,” AI platforms frequently produced results that looked just like bottles of Heinz. So the brand urged consumers to get in on the act by sharing their own AI prompts for ketchup-based imagery, with the best creations appearing in social media posts and print ads, helping them collect all the UGC content they could ask for.

This image shows how Heinz uses AI to generate images.

While AI marketing is proving to help marketers share the load and generate better results, there is still a lot to consider before diving completely into the world of artificial intelligence.

Things to consider with AI marketing

While AI marketing offers numerous benefits, it also comes with several potential drawbacks and challenges.

Privacy concerns: AI marketing relies heavily on collecting and analyzing user data. This can raise privacy concerns, especially when users are not fully aware of how their data is being used. Compliance with data protection regulations, such as GDPR, is essential.

Data security risks: Storing and processing large volumes of customer data can make companies more vulnerable to data breaches and cyberattacks. Protecting this data becomes a significant challenge.

Bias Issues: AI algorithms can inadvertently perpetuate biases present in the data they were trained on. This can lead to unfair or discriminatory outcomes in marketing campaigns, affecting certain demographic groups negatively.

Over-reliance on data: Marketers might become overly reliant on AI-generated insights, potentially overlooking human intuition and creativity. There’s a risk of undervaluing the “human touch” in marketing.

Lack of creativity: While AI can automate and optimize certain tasks, it’s not inherently creative. It can generate content but may struggle with originality, humor, and emotional resonance, which are essential in marketing.

Initial investment costs: Implementing AI marketing solutions can require a substantial upfront investment in terms of technology, training, and data infrastructure. This may be a barrier for smaller businesses.

Complexity: AI marketing systems can be complex to set up and maintain. Businesses may need to hire or train specialized personnel to manage and optimize these systems effectively. Some AI algorithms, especially deep learning models, can be challenging to interpret. Marketers may not always understand why a particular recommendation or prediction was made, making it challenging to adjust strategies.

Algorithmic errors: AI algorithms are not infallible. They can make mistakes, misinterpret data, or generate incorrect recommendations, which can negatively impact marketing campaigns.

Regulatory compliance: Staying compliant with evolving data protection and privacy regulations can be challenging. Failing to do so can result in legal and reputational consequences.

Unpredictability: AI models may produce unexpected results or behave in ways that are difficult to predict, making it challenging to anticipate the outcomes of marketing campaigns accurately.

It’s important for marketers to actively work to mitigate potential risks while leveraging the advantages of AI marketing. A balanced approach that combines AI’s capabilities with human oversight and ethical considerations is the most effective strategy.

Leverage the power of AI marketing to drive more conversions

AI helps marketing teams scale their campaigns without hiring additional personnel and pouring in a lot of advertising dollars. However, it’s essential to keep in mind that AI comes with its considerations and limitations.

While a lot of marketers and advertisers are wary about AI platforms taking over their jobs, it’s important to remember that AI is a tool that helps augment human capabilities rather than replace them. So, instead of worrying about machines taking over your jobs, it’s important to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI marketing so you can stay ahead of the curve and reach new heights of growth.

One of the biggest obstacles to digital campaign success is page performance. Even minor improvements to landing page conversion rates can increase sales and revenue over time.

Despite this obvious value, many companies lack the bandwidth or CRO expertise to run experiments and improve their campaigns—leaving money on the table. So savvy marketers are taking advantage of new advancements in AI in AI to help build and optimize their pages.

At Instapage, we’re constantly improving our platform with new ways to build and optimize high-converting landing pages. We recently released AI Experiments, a new way to run intelligent optimization experiments on your landing pages without the same level of manual effort.

    With AI Experiments, you can:

    • Speed up experimentation and get insights faster
    • Send more traffic to better test variants
    • Earn higher conversion rates over time

In this blog post, we’ll walk through the benefits of AI Experiments and show you how AI features can accelerate your optimization efforts and improve your return on ad spend.

    Experiment with Dynamic Traffic Allocation

AI Experiments use artificial intelligence to power a form of experiment called dynamic traffic allocation, which tracks the progress of an experiment and directs traffic to higher-performing test variations.

This experiment type differs from traditional A/B testing in a few ways. In a standard A/B/n test, traffic is split evenly between two or more page variants. The test runs for long enough to achieve statistical significance—in other words, until the test has been performed with enough viewers to reliably show a clear winner.

AI Experiments begin in a similar way, with multiple page variants. After a warm up period, the AI system identifies the highest performing variants up to that point, and those variants receive a higher percentage of traffic over time. As the experiment progresses and the degree of certainty changes, the traffic will continue to shift, and eventually the system will identify the test variant with the highest probability of winning.

This approach has a few advantages over A/B tests.

    • Faster time-to-insights. Dynamic traffic allocation removes the need to wait for statistical significance, so you can benefit from improved pages faster.
    • Fewer lost conversions. Because a lower percentage of traffic is routed to suboptimal test variants, you no longer need to trade conversions for insights.
    • Less manual effort. Let the AI system manage your experiments for you, without a high degree of manual effort.

    Start performing AI Experiments today

AI Experiments are now available to Instapage customers on the Convert Plan. If you prefer a more hands-on approach, our traditional A/B testing options are still available. With the addition of AI Experiments, Instapage customers can improve their campaign results faster than ever.

An important reminder—AI is a powerful tool for conversion rate optimization, but it’s not a silver bullet. AI can’t make decisions in a vacuum—it needs human input and guidance to be effective.
